My name is Anne-Lynn Overweg, I am 19 years old, and I come from a small village near Zwolle, the Netherlands. I am currently in my third year of studying Real Estate Management at Saxion University of Applied Sciences in Enschede. Over the past five months, I had the opportunity to complete my internship at Sunbelt Realty, an experience I look back on with great pleasure.
This internship was not only a valuable addition to my studies but also contributed significantly to my personal development. During my time at Sunbelt Realty, I gained experience in several departments within the company. My main interest lies in the sales department, so I spent most of my internship there.
No two days were the same. One day I accompanied real estate agents on property viewings and attended negotiations, while the next day I worked at the reception desk. This variety made every day both enjoyable and educational. Sunbelt gave me the opportunity to learn, develop myself, and become part of a dedicated and enthusiastic team.
Before starting my studies, I already knew I wanted to work in real estate. My education confirmed that interest, but after completing this internship, I know for certain that this is the career I want to pursue. The contact with clients, guiding the sales process, conducting introductory conversations, and solving a wide variety of challenges make the job both dynamic and rewarding.
The Sunbelt team made my internship even more special. From my very first day, I felt welcome and truly became part of the team. My colleagues always took the time to answer my questions and explain how the knowledge from my studies is applied in practice. As an intern, you are given the freedom to join appointments that interest you and gain hands-on experience. This gives you an excellent understanding of the profession while allowing you to continue developing your skills.
Besides my internship, I also thoroughly enjoyed everything Bonaire has to offer. During the weekends, I had plenty of time to explore the island. The combination of a valuable internship and life on a tropical island made these five months an unforgettable experience.
